WhiteDove Sound Shala is not only a space for receiving sound – it is also a place of learning, transmission and apprenticeship in the art of sound healing. Over the years we have curated and crafted a path for those who feel called to work with gongs, bowls, drums, voice and other instruments as tools for transformation.
Our Lineage and Approach
Our teaching weaves together direct experience from years of live sessions, ceremonies and performances with influences from traditional shamanic practice, contemporary sound therapy and deep listening disciplines. We honour both the intuitive, ritual aspects of sound work and the practical knowledge of acoustics, rhythm, breath and body awareness.
The shala itself is our classroom: every training is rooted in real‑life practice, using a full array of instruments – gongs, singing and talking bowls, didgeridoo, flutes, shaman drums, chimes and more – so students can feel how each voice behaves in a live space and in a human body. We emphasise groundedness, ethics and responsibility in working with altered states and expanded consciousness.
Certification Programs
We offer immersive certification paths for those who are ready to step deeper into sound healing as a serious practice. Program names and structures can be adapted to the group, but typically include:
- Shamanic Sound Healing
A 3 day comprehensive introduction to sound as a therapeutic medium covering listening, intention, basic instrument technique (gongs, bowls, shaman drum, percussions), creating safe spaces, and guided sessions for individuals and small groups. - Foundations of Sound and Vibrational Healing
A 5 day comprehensive course merging 3 days of Shamanic Sound healing with 2 days of Breathwork instruments and voice. - Gong Teaching Intensive
2 day focused training in the art of the gong, including posture and movement, mallet work, dynamics, layering, working with cycles of tension–release, flumies and friction mallets and creating full journeys rather than random playing. - Singing Bowls Intensive
2 day exploration of singing bowls (sets as well as unique talking bowls) in personal sound healing (as sets placed on and around the body with full practical knowledge on how to hold space as well as prepare the client for receiving sound) as well as sound baths, group sessions, water therapy in pool with singing bowls. - Breathwork Instruments and Voice in Sound Healing
2 day exploration of didgeridoo, flutes, mouthharps and voice in personal sound healing as well as sound baths, group sessions. - Shaman Drum & Rhythm Journeys
1 day training in shaman drum & frame drum technique, trance rhythms, journeying structures, grounding and integration methods, and how to hold group space with drum, rattle and percussion.
Each certification combines theory, demonstrations and many hours of hands‑on practice with feedback, reflection and integration.
Workshops and Short Trainings
For those dipping their toes into the world of sound or wanting to refine specific skills, we also host shorter workshops and thematic labs. These may range from introductory evenings (“First Steps into Sound Healing”) to focused sessions such as “Gong and Breath”, “Drum and Trance”, or “Creating Your First Soundbath.”
Group sizes are intentionally kept small to allow individual attention, and there is always space for questions and sharing. Some workshops are open to complete beginners, while others are for practitioners who already have experience and wish to deepen their craft.
How We Teach
Our teaching is experiential and embodied. Rather than memorising rigid protocols, you are invited to cultivate listening, sensitivity and relationship with each instrument. We explore how sound interacts with posture, breath, intention and the nervous system, and how to navigate the fine line between gentle support and overwhelming stimulation.
We also address ethical foundations: consent, trauma‑aware facilitation, working with expectations and projections, and respecting cultural origins of instruments and practices. Advanced modules may touch on working with recording technology, subtle electronics and live performance while keeping a ceremonial heart.
