Description
A shaman drum is more than a rhythm instrument – it is a vehicle for travel, grounding and transformation. In our work at WhiteDove Sound Shala, the drum is used to guide journeys, anchor energy and help people reconnect with the heartbeat of the earth. The drums we offer are chosen with this depth of work in mind.
Drum Qualities
The shaman drums available through the shala vary in size, tuning and material. Some carry deeper, slower voices ideal for grounding and underworld journeys; others have a more mid‑range tone suited to group trance work and movement. Frames are made to be sturdy and comfortable to hold over longer sessions.
Skins and materials are selected for a balance between sensitivity and durability in the local climate. Where possible, we prioritise ethical sourcing and craft, respecting both the animals and artisans involved in the creation of each drum.
Working with the Drum
In session, the drum can:
-
Support rhythmic trance states and guided journeys
-
Help clear stagnant energy and restore vitality
-
Anchor and ground after more expansive sound work
-
Provide a strong spine for group ceremonies and circles
We are happy to suggest rhythms, practices and simple ways to begin building a relationship with your drum so that it becomes a trusted ally, not just an object.
